History & Heritage
Over 120 years of industrial enterprise — from a single shipyard in Dhaka to a multinational group.
A History Built Over 120 Years
The Nascorp group's history spans more than 120 years, beginning with shipbuilding and shipbreaking operations in Dhaka in 1902 and progressing through successive expansions into fisheries, logistics, construction, manufacturing, and government consultancy before crossing borders in 1999 and rationalising into the current group structure in 2020.
Key Milestones
The Full Story
The group was founded in 1902 in Dhaka in shipbuilding and shipbreaking — the operating origin of what is today Nascorp Industries Bangladesh Ltd. By the 1940s, the group had expanded into fisheries. In the 1970s, inland shipping and logistics entered the portfolio.
Construction emerged in the 1970s and 1980s as a natural extension of the group's shipbuilding heritage. By the 1980s, the group had entered textile manufacturing, with food processing established through the late 20th century.
The 1990s brought chemical manufacturing, real estate development as a distinct line, and the formalisation of government consultancy. In 1999, the group crossed its first borders into Thailand and Malaysia. In 2020, a group restructuring incorporated the current legal structure.
Built by Generations
The Nascorp group has been led across multiple generations since its founding in 1902. Founder and generational leadership profiles are being researched for publication.
